Time

I watched Midnight In Paris last night. I don’t know how much depth I was expecting from an Owen Wilson movie, but a lot of what they were talking about resonated with me. Romanticizing a particular era in time is misleading. Nostalgia is fundamentality naivete, and the grass is always greener. I often catch myself daydreaming about what it would be like to live in a distant era of time. Mostly every decade of the 20th century has a certain charm that intrigues me, and makes me wish I could have experienced that lifestyle. But I realize how safe and boring that might be to go back. As much as I don’t like the way certain things are in 2012, I would ultimately face these same problems in any other time period. The golden age is the age you’re alive in. The uncertainty of the future is what makes the present exciting.
