Arctic Monkeys have been one of my favorite bands for six years now. They were my gateway into indie rock and bands like The Strokes, etc. When their first album blew up, I was just old enough to actually care about things like that. This new single, “R U Mine?” is great. Might be the best thing I’ve heard out of them in the past year.
I love this music video because they filmed it live, all in one take, as the song premiered for the first time on KROQ. While it was being premiered, and they were filming this, I was also in the car driving with a friend of mine, listening excitedly. The DJ came on with this great, haunting introduction; It gave me chills. Little did I know that Alex Turner, Matt Helders, and the rest of the band were also driving through Los Angeles, performing and recording this number. I feel like I’m apart of this, somehow. Silly, but true.
